Kristie, December 2007 Volunteer of the Month
We are honored to announce Kristie as our December Volunteer of the Month.
Kristie joined Child Advocates in October of 2006. She was attracted to the
program because of her background in criminal justice and sociology. In the past
she served as an intern with juvenile probation and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
She says she has always has been drawn to helping children.
Kristie is on a case with two teenagers. Her biggest challenge was to get them
to open up and trust her. Kristie has taken them bowling, out to eat and they love
to ride the Go Carts.
Kristie says" I truly enjoy it. Sometimes it can be trying. . . but it is definitely
worth the hardship. I enjoy every aspect of it, the children and meeting people."
Her case supervisor, Carol, says "She is very committed to her role as a CASA.
I can depend on her to get the job done and she has established a good rapport with
the teens." The CPS caseworker says that Kristie is her link to the girls.
Congratulations Kristie! Thanks for all you do!
